Our Team
Founder
Our founder, Sophie Jones, is the heart behind Ginger Island Activity Club. Fully qualified with GNVQ Level 3 Play Work, BA Hons in Multi-Media Design, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education: Key Stages 1 and 2, Sophie has over 20 years of experience working with children, young people, and families.
She has a strong background in safeguarding and is committed to ensuring every child enjoys a safe, fun, and inspiring environment. Alongside her teaching career, Sophie has led a variety of creative and play-based programmes, drawing on her passion for both education and design.
She is also a qualified First Aider and has experience working with children with diverse needs, giving her a well-rounded skill set to support every child who attends Ginger Island. Her dedication, creativity, and wealth of knowledge are at the core of everything the club delivers.


Charlie Kelly
Sports Lead
Charlie is a dedicated and experienced Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant with six years of hands-on experience supporting children’s learning and development. Currently pursuing a degree in Education and Primary Studies, Charlie is committed to furthering his knowledge and skills in the field.
In addition to Charlies classroom experience, he holds Level 1 and 2 qualifications in football coaching and a Level 2 qualification in dodgeball, reflecting his passion for physical education and extracurricular involvement.
For the past three years, Charlie has worked closely with Ginger Island, contributing consistently to their programmes. He also has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and serves as the qualified First Aider on site during working hours.
